My Experience With My Learning Experience - 953 Words

I was born February 20, 1993 in La Habana, Cuba. My parents and I spent all of my childhood and part of adolescence living there with my grandparents and great grandparents. Our neighborhood was not very big, but the people there were very close, always interacting with one another, which made it a really pleasant experience. However, at the age of 15, my parents and I moved to Quito, Ecuador looking for better education and job opportunities. Even though it was very hard at the beginning, I believe I could adapt very quickly to a new culture and its people, which I began to appreciate. During my high school years, I had the opportunity to take Psychology as a class for the first time. Although my learning experience consisted of concepts of personality and social issues that affected the individual, I became extremely passionate about this discipline. My excitement to learn about people’s behavior and perceptions of the environment led me to discover that I wanted to become a psychologist in the future. However, I was making that decision without knowing the practical work in this field. It was not until I volunteer in 2011 at foundation with children with Down syndrome, that I could gain an insight into the work Psychologists do. In this foundation called â€Å"Reina de Quito†, I also had the chance to interact with children by helping them with feeding routines and social interactions to contribute to their development in the community.
